This Week

I started off this week with high hopes that I could actually get over the hump and get motivated. I tell you what, if summer is not a motivating factor then nothing is. When I say that, I do not mean that it is because I want to look good in my biknini (your right, I don't wear those), it is that it is hot, sticky and mostly uncomfortable outside of my couch with a cold brew for the Northwest and cycling on TV.

You know what I mean. We spent the weekend walking around at the Paseo Arts Festival and the Edmond Jazz and Blues Festival which really made be begin to think how nice it was when I was at 170. The festivals were great but I left each one wishing I was out running or riding my bicycles to get fit.

Monday was spent moving my sister from Norman - fun times. Actually, I sorted viewed it as exercise and a time to sweat off some water weight. That is until at ate at Goldie's in Edmond.

So, Monday came around and I decided that now was the time. That means:

  • Good breakfast of scrambled egg whites, fruit, and a cup of soy milk
  • Grilled Chicken Salads or other nice lunch
  • Salmon, Grilled Chicken, Vegetables or other lean meats for dinner
  • Running, Biking, or other phyiscal activity every day.

Really, I have done this before so I was excited to get back on it. I am happy to say that I was out running every day this week! While I know that you are not going to see much change in 4 days, I feel so much better!

Here is what I got done on the roads:

  • Monday - Moved Sister
  • Tuesday - 2 Miles
  • Wednesday - 2 Miles
  • Thursday - 1.5 Miles
  • Friday - 1.5 Miles

I will say that my legs are not used to be out everyday. My goal for next week is to run a minimum of 2 miles each outing. That really should not be hard to do as I feel that a 2 mile run is a nice way to start. We will go from there.

So, things this week went well. I will weigh in on Monday and see where I stand. I was about 226 when I started on Monday so that is the starting point!

Thanks for reading. Have a nice weekend and be sure to check out the Oklahoma Riverfest. Here are the details fro their website:

The Third Annual Oklahoma RiverFest, presented by Devon Energy & Chesapeake Energy, will take place June 6-8, at Regatta Park on the Oklahoma River. The event will feature activities for all members of the family both on and off the water, showcasing the many amenities of the Oklahoma River and trails.

The three-day festival will feature Dragon Boat Team Racing, exciting river shows featuring water skiing and jet skis, the Oklahoma RiverRide bicycling event, Devon Energy River Cruises, Red Earth RiverFest RiverRun, MusicFest, KidsPlay inflatable park, Chesapeake Boathouse tours, rowing demonstrations, paddle boats, kayaks and many other attractions.

This year’s event will pay special tribute to the United States Navy and will celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Commissioning of the USS Oklahoma City Submarine. Navy interactive exhibits, a Navy band and former crewmembers from the USS Oklahoma City Submarine will be on hand for the celebration. The third annual Oklahoma RiverFest serves as the official kickoff of Navy Week in Oklahoma City.

Points of interest for me? The 30 miles River Ride. Have a good weekend.
