Oh, by the way, I added a great goal tracker from a site call Gimme20.com. Now I really have to work on it!

This Week
I started off this week with high hopes that I could actually get over the hump and get motivated. I tell you what, if summer is not a motivating factor then nothing is. When I say that, I do not mean that it is because I want to look good in my biknini (your right, I don't wear those), it is that it is hot, sticky and mostly uncomfortable outside of my couch with a cold brew for the Northwest and cycling on TV.
You know what I mean. We spent the weekend walking around at the Paseo Arts Festival and the Edmond Jazz and Blues Festival which really made be begin to think how nice it was when I was at 170. The festivals were great but I left each one wishing I was out running or riding my bicycles to get fit.
Monday was spent moving my sister from Norman - fun times. Actually, I sorted viewed it as exercise and a time to sweat off some water weight. That is until at ate at Goldie's in Edmond.
So, Monday came around and I decided that now was the time. That means:
Good breakfast of scrambled egg whites, fruit, and a cup of soy milk
Grilled Chicken Salads or other nice lunch
Salmon, Grilled Chicken, Vegetables or other lean meats for dinner
Running, Biking, or other phyiscal activity every day.
Really, I have done this before so I was excited to get back on it. I am happy to say that I was out running every day this week! While I know that you are not going to see much change in 4 days, I feel so much better!
Here is what I got done on the roads:
Monday - Moved Sister
Tuesday - 2 Miles
Wednesday - 2 Miles
Thursday - 1.5 Miles
Friday - 1.5 Miles
I will say that my legs are not used to be out everyday. My goal for next week is to run a minimum of 2 miles each outing. That really should not be hard to do as I feel that a 2 mile run is a nice way to start. We will go from there.
So, things this week went well. I will weigh in on Monday and see where I stand. I was about 226 when I started on Monday so that is the starting point!
Thanks for reading. Have a nice weekend and be sure to check out the Oklahoma Riverfest. Here are the details fro their website:
Points of interest for me? The 30 miles River Ride. Have a good weekend.

Short Term Goals
I have set myself up with a long term goal - drop from 225 to about 170 or so. I did not want to put a time frame on it but I would like that all to happen by the end of the year if possible. The problem here? I set this goal in February and have done nothing about it! So, here is what I decided.
I need to have several short term goals that fit nicely inside my long term lifestyle change. I have been 165 before but this time I want to stay there. So, I created a short term goal that should put me in good shape to finish up my long term hope of a fitter me.
By the end of September (4 months away), I want to be at 195. This will be the first time I have been under 200 in about 4 years. That is 4 months to get my act together and get on with it.
If you are in the process of doing something like I am, I think it is important to set these short term goals. I like to think of it as a switchback for climbing a mountain pass on a bike or while hiking. Each little section you complete gets you one step closer to the top. That is what this is all about!
I will begin doing a "weigh in" each Monday and will report my findings. This week has started off pretty good and I hope I can keep momentum. I will talk more about my progress this week and what I have been doing tomorrow.

Back to Business
Holly smokes - where has my motivation gone? I started this thing in hopes that I would get off to a great start. In hopes that the blog would act as an online journal of sorts to keep me going. I will say that I have not gained any weight more finding that I have hit a plateau at the beginning of my program!
The good news in all of this? I think I have found that motivation again. I made a commitment to myself that this was the time. No longer can I afford to get off the path of fitness and health. It has a lot to do with image and personal obligation to fit into my clothes but also it has to do with life long health.
So, my goal is to keep this blog updated and to keep at it until I reach my goal. I have a few ideas that I will share with you. I value your comments and questions and anything you feel like contributing.
Here we go. It will not be easy, the weather will not be nice, but the long term benefit will be worth celebrating!
